Mercy Hands, represented by Ms. Alessia Volpe, the Director of Community Development Department, was recently selected to co-chair NCCI's new 'Democracy and Human Rights Working Group'.
This working group is a part of NCCI's development coordination and will focus on Democracy & Human Rights programming for NGOs across Iraq. The working group's monthly meetings will serve to enhance NGO inter-agency information sharing, develop coordinated approaches or positions, and help NGOs link their programmes with national efforts of the government, UN and others. In addition to co-chairing the group, Mercy Hands took the lead to write the terms of reference for the working group.
The first meeting of the working group took place simultaneously in Erbil and Baghdad on October 30th, 2019. The meeting included discussion with attendees about the group's structure and the interests of members.
