Climate Action

We are committed to working with with communities to strengthen their resilience to the impacts of climate change and raise awareness on sustainability.

Iraq is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to global warming. Decreasing rainfall, rising temperatures, droughts and soil degradation are fast transforming Iraq into a desert landscape, threatening it's peace and stability.

As a result, Iraq faces huge challenges including water scarcity, food insecurity, desertification, heat related health risks, waterborne diseases, conflict and violence caused by relocation and resource scarcity, displacement, and more.

That's why implementing projects which address the impacts of climate change, build communities' resilience and promote sustainable resource usage are so important to us. We're also implementing a research project on the impacts of climate-induced migration in Ninewah, Diyala, Kirkuk and Sulimania in coordination with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Berghof Foundation and GIST. The findings from this research will inform policy briefs, community dialogues, and help to find strategies for peacebuilding and governance in the face of climate change.
