From National Dialogue to Local Action: Strengthening Community Resilience

On September 11, 2025, Baghdad hosted a pivotal meeting of the Sub-Committee for Preventing Violent Extremism, chaired by the First Deputy Governor and attended by representatives from government institutions and civil society organizations. The discussions focused on Iraq’s 2025 Plan, emphasizing the importance of partnerships, resource mobilization, and empowering local communities to prevent extremism and strengthen social cohesion.

Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid participated not merely as an observer, but as a committed actor translating national dialogue into tangible field action. Our presence reflected a deep understanding of the challenges at hand and the necessity of aligning national policies with local realities to ensure sustainable outcomes.

A practical step in transforming national dialogue into field initiatives.

The outcomes of this national dialogue are directly reflected in our ongoing project in Diyala, where we work to empower youth and women as drivers of change, support community-led initiatives providing peaceful alternatives to violence and strengthen trust and social cohesion through participatory local programs. What was discussed in Baghdad is now being realized on the ground in Diyala, demonstrating our organization’s ability to connect strategic vision with operational impact and deliver measurable, lasting results.

From dialogue to implementation, from Baghdad to Diyala, every step we take is part of a unified journey toward a safer, cohesive, and opportunity-rich future for all.
