Our WASH Achievements in May 2020 in Ninewa Governorate

Mercy Hands continues is implementing a few WASH projects in different areas in Iraq, including Ninewa governorate.


In May 2020, Mercy Hands achieved the following WASH activities in Ninewa governorate:


- Rehabilitation of 6 Km internal water network system in Al -Refaee neighborhood in Mosul. The length of the water pipe is 2500 meters and diameter is 200 mm, made of polyethylene.


- Rehabilitation of 6 Km internal water network system in Al -Senaa Al -Qadem area in Mosul. Length of the water pipe is 1000 meters and diameter is 200 mm, made of polyethylene.


- Rehabilitation of 6 Km internal water network system in Al -Yarmouk neighborhood in Mosul. Length of the water pipe is 650 meters and diameter is 160 mm, made of polyethylene.


- Rehabilitation of 6 Km internal water network system in Wady Al -Eyn neighborhood in Mosul. Length of the water pipe is 1150 meters and diameter is 1670 mm, made of 3 polyethylene.


- Rehabilitation of 6 km internal water network system in Al -Abar neighborhood in Mosul. Length of the water pipe is 650 meters and diameter is 160 mm, made of polyethylene.


- Rehabilitation of Istikhrajia water treatment plant in Badoush city in Ninewa Governorate.


- Supplying, installing, and replacing pipeline network in the following neigborhoods: Al -Intisar, Yarimja AlSharqiya, Al -Quds, Al - Qahera, Tamim, Zobbat, Rashidiya, Hai -Altahrir, Al -Sukkar, Hai - Alwahda, Al -Shayma, AL -Arabi, Al -Samah, and Al -Zahraa.


- Drilling 6 boreholes and constructing new concrete tank (10*10*3 meters) in Baaj and connect it to the main Baaj pipeline and public power grid.


- Rehabilitation of Al-sultan Abdullah water treatment plant and providing new compact unit instead of the damaged one.


- Constructing 300 cubic meters concrete tank and rehabilitating 6 boreholes; building a pump house, and installing and extending water network 3000 meters.


- Rehabilitation of internal water network in 20 neighborhoods in east side of Mosul.


- Constructing concrete water tank 800 cubic meters in Al-Wahda Village.


- Supplying and installing chlorine and alum sulphate systems for water treatment plants and pump stations in different villages in Ninewa; supplemented by water quality training for Directorate of Water's operators.


- Supplying the Directorate of Water as well as the local communities with spare parts for pump stations.


- Plumbing training and distribution of plumbing kits to local operators of water pumps.
